HvA: Graduation project / Afstudeer project
Assignment - individual: How can a digital interactive product, using gamification, provide people interested in Islam without prior knowledge with a structured learning process about Islam? The target group is young people aged 16 to 27 who are not religious, but who, out of curiosity or personal motivation, want to learn more about Islam.

๐ฑ Islam Quest โ Graduation Project
Islam Quest is my graduation project for Communication and Multimedia Design at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences ๐.
The goal was to answer the question: "How can a digital interactive product, using gamification, provide people interested in Islam without prior knowledge with a structured learning process about Islam?"
Through interviews ๐ค, desk research ๐, and analysis of existing learning platforms, I found that many young people interested in Islam face an overload of information, conflicting opinions, and no clear starting point. The result is an educational app that combines gamification ๐ฎ with accessible, reliable content. Users can explore topics such as the Five Pillars ๐, Ramadan ๐, and the life of the Prophet ๐ through an interactive map (similar to Duolingo) or choose standalone courses.
โจ Key features:
- ๐ Scrollytelling for engaging, visual lessons
- โ Interactive quizzes with varied formats
- ๐ค AI chatbot for anonymous questions
- ๐ Built-in Quran reader & ๐บ๏ธ โmosques nearbyโ finder
- ๐ซ Social learning via the Study Circle feature
The prototype was iteratively designed, tested with the target audience ๐ฅ, and refined with feedback from both users and an e-learning expert. Islam Quest not only makes learning about Islam approachable, but also helps break down misconceptions and foster inclusion ๐ค.
